Welcome to adary.org: The Reboot
Like any good piece of software, this site has had a few previous versions. Let’s just say they were… feature-light, and support was deprecated rather quickly. After a few false starts as a WordPress site, a blog, and a digital paperweight, this is the latest—and hopefully greatest—incarnation of adary.org. This time, the plan is to stick around.
So, What’s an ‘Adary’?
The short answer: It’s me. The person behind the screen.
The longer, less creative answer is that it’s a relic of a long-gone corporate IT policy. My last name is Adar and my first name begins with Y. A former employer, in its infinite wisdom, decided my username should be a fusion of the two. I was never accused of being imaginative with names, but this one was surprisingly pronounceable, it stuck, and now people I’ve known for years—including my wife—call me Adary. I guess you can’t fight fate, especially when it’s written by the IT department.
The Mission Statement (of sorts)
After nearly 40 years of tinkering, coding, and navigating the tech world, my enthusiasm has only grown. I’m fascinated by the intersection of powerful technology and practical, everyday use. My goal is to work in a digital environment that is not only efficient but also elegant.
This space will be dedicated to exploring that theme. Expect musings on software, tips for optimizing digital workspaces, and strategies for making life simpler through technology. We’ll talk less about hardware, with one glaring, clicky, mechanical exception: keyboards. I have a thing for keyboards.
Who’s This For?
If your world revolves around Linux, UNIX, macOS, or you spend your days wrangling the cloud, navigating DevOps pipelines, and integrating complex systems, you’re in the right place.
But you don’t need a specific job title to hang out here. If you’re a hobbyist, an enthusiast, or simply someone who believes a well-configured setup is a thing of beauty, you’ll likely find something to pique your interest. Welcome aboard.
